Dead Beat Film Society

We are the Dead Beat Film Society. Every meeting someone picks an important film. We all watch the film then meet back up to discuss it. Along with a discussion of why the film is important, we analyze the film making, acting, directing, and discuss our personal thoughts and opinions.

How I learned to stop worrying and love the dead beats!
Join the DBFS as we revisit Stanley Kubrick for the 4th time, talk the alternate title, Russia, the absurdity of politics, impending doom, the apocalypse, the existential threat of nuclear annihilation, Peter Sellers 3 roles in the film and his failed 4th role, Slim Pickens, what makes a comedy, how Kubrick attained the realism of the war room & the bomber plane, Fail Safe, the title credits by Pablo Ferro, fake news, misinformation, communism, bogus sports predictions, the hierarchy of insanity in each of the locations, America as the villain, COVID-19, wildfire smoke, and other light themes of our imminent demise!
Bomb that play button for an in depth Dr.Strangelove film analysis!

Fasten your seatbelts it's gonna be a bumpy podcast!
Join the DBFS as we discuss both Bette Davis, and Betty Davis, and also their eyes, Edith Head, Hollywood vs. NY theater, how to win an Oscar in 1950 (spoiler: be a man), the dreaded voice over, witty dialogue, an early Marilyn Monroe, the burpy guy, being 40, getting ahead in a man's world, feminism, the purpose of the German housekeeper, a debate on the ending, Shere Kahn, the incredibly misleading poster, the remake that should absolutely not exist (but Gillian Anderson!), censorship, a dress with pockets, and the storyline's influence on pop culture.
Mix another cocktail and settle in for an in depth All About Eve film analysis!
